Job Description

Milaap, India’s leading crowdfunding platform, is seeking a talented freelance story writer to join our team. As a freelance story writer, you will play a crucial role in crafting compelling stories that resonate with our audience and drive engagement with our crowdfunding campaigns. You will work closely with our marketing and communications team to create content that inspires action and fosters connections between donors and fundraisers. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for storytelling, exceptional writing skills, and a deep understanding of the social impact space. This is a remote position based in India.

Key Responsibilities:

• Write captivating campaign stories and updates for a diverse range of crowdfunding initiatives.
• Conduct research to gather information and insights for writing compelling narratives.
• Edit and proofread content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency.Review the biodata provided by beneficiaries and formulate thoughtful interview questions to gather relevant information for crafting powerful stories. 
• Conduct sensitive and empathetic interviews with beneficiaries and/or their families over phone calls, ensuring their comfort and trust throughout the process.
• Write authentic and engaging stories that vividly portray the experiences and current challenges faced by the beneficiaries, captivating readers until the very end and inspiring them to take action, whether it’s sharing the story or making a donation. 
• Has to be proficient in regional languages.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a writer, preferably in the nonprofit sector or related field.
• Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
• Strong storytelling abilities with a knack for evoking emotions and inspiring action.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of crowdfunding and social impact is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.|
