The Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) caters to all citizens of the state of Meghalaya, with the exception of Central and State government employees. This scheme operates exclusively within the state and covers treatments in both public and private hospitals. It supports various types of transplants including renal, bone marrow, nerve, and colon transplants. Additionally, the scheme extends its support to treatments such as dialysis and post-transplant medication for up to one year.
All citizens of Meghalaya are eligible to apply for the Megha Health Insurance Scheme, except for Central and State government employees.
The MHIS covers the cost of donor organ retrieval surgery and provides a maximum coverage of 5.3 lakhs per year per family. The scheme supports various aspects of treatments including dialysis, renal transplant, bone marrow transplant, and post-transplant care for up to three months.
Applications for the Megha Health Insurance Scheme are accepted online only. Once approved, payments are directly made to the hospital post-treatment. Patients can avail the benefits multiple times up to the wallet limit.
