Need help raising funds for medical emergency?
In the state of Chhattisgarh, access to quality healthcare is a fundamental right for all citizens, and this includes provisions for organ transplantation. Over the years, the government and various organizations have initiated several schemes aimed at providing financial aid and support to individuals in need of organ transplants. These schemes play a crucial role in easing the financial burden associated with transplantation surgeries and ensuring that patients have access to the necessary medical care.

Now, lets explore some of the key state programs in Chhattisgarh that provide financial assistance for organ transplants:
Dr. Khoobchand Baghel Swasthya Sahayata Yojana (DKBSSY) and Mukhyamantri Vishesh Swasthya Sahayata Yojana (MVSSY) are Chhattisgarh government schemes aimed at providing healthcare assistance to patients in need within the state or union territory. These schemes cover a wide range of hospitals, including both public and private institutions, and support various types of transplants such as kidney and liver. Additionally, they offer assistance for aspects of treatment including dialysis, pre-transplant workup costs, transplant surgery, and post-transplant medication.
Both DKBSSY and MVSSY are open to individuals in the general category, regardless of their financial status.
Under these schemes, the cost of donor organ retrieval surgery is covered, with a maximum amount of 18 lakhs provided for the entire treatment process. There is no specific criteria for the quantum of support provided, ensuring flexibility in meeting the needs of patients. The payment is directly made to the hospital during the course of treatment. Patients can avail of the scheme multiple times, although there may be a minimum time gap required between each application.
The application process for DKBSSY and MVSSY involves visiting designated centers or hospitals. Patients need to submit the necessary documents and complete the required formalities to enroll in the scheme.
Most hospitals participating in transplant procedures are enrolled under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. However, if a patient is ineligible for Ayushman Bharat for any reason, they may apply under DKBSSY (if below the poverty line) or MVSSY (if above the poverty line). It’s important to note that DKBSSY and MVSSY schemes are merged and function jointly, ensuring comprehensive healthcare support for eligible patients.
These schemes not only provide financial assistance but also offer hope and support to individuals and families grappling with organ failure. By facilitating access to life-saving treatments, the government and various organizations are making a tangible difference in the lives of countless individuals across the state. As awareness grows and more people benefit from these schemes, Chhattisgarh continues to make strides towards a healthier and more inclusive society.
