This nationwide network of organisations shares a common goal: to raise awareness about breast cancer, provide support, and deliver vital services to those affected. In this introduction, we will explore the inspiring endeavours of these pan-Indian organisations, all working diligently to create a brighter, healthier future for women facing breast cancer.

The Pink Initiative is a Mumbai-based non-governmental organisation (NGO) founded in 2014. The primary objective of the Pink Initiative is to educate individuals about the importance of early detection and diagnosis of breast cancer. To achieve this goal, the organization conducts various workshops aimed at informing people about the signs and symptoms of the disease and the significance of early intervention.
Additionally, the NGO provides a supportive online platform for patients through organized support forums, fostering a sense of community among those affected by breast cancer.
In an effort to reach a wider audience, the Pink Initiative strategically places informational posters about breast cancer in key locations throughout Mumbai. 2. Women’s Cancer Initiative, Tata Memorial Hospital - Mumbai

It is a cancer care program by Tata Memorial Centre led by cancer specialists, cancer survivors, and volunteers for women diagnosed with breast and other gynaecological cancers. It not only provides social and financial support for women with these cancers but also helps them to complete the course of their treatment whether it is chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, radiation therapy, surgery, or rehabilitation therapy.
They organise screening camps in the city, and raise funds through various activities such as Pinkathon and women’s drives.

With an aim to reduce this gap and lower the burden of breast cancer in Indian women, Maina Foundation not only promotes early detection but also offers chemotherapy to women in need of financial assistance. They also empower women by spreading awareness about breast cancer through education and innovative medical care.
The organisation has adopted the Pratiksha Nagar area, which is largely an urban slum located in Sion-Koliwada, for Comprehensive Health Care Services. In collaboration with K. J. Somaiya Medical College has initiated efforts to create awareness among the community about breast cancer since January 2014.
Additionally, the organisation sponsors chemotherapy for breast cancer patients annually, making their program instrumental in providing diagnostic screening for uninsured women in the community.

The Sharana Breast Cancer Relief & Research Foundation is a non-profit, philanthropic, non-governmental organisation whose mission is to support women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer during this challenging time in their lives. With a reputation for expertise and cutting-edge technology, the foundation is devoted entirely to breast cancer research and medication in Chennai.
They have three separate support groups at Sharana, every two weeks, and small groups meet to focus on themes such as lymphedema care and post-surgery and therapy precautions and warnings.
The foundation also has a dedicated team of counsellors who provide information and instruction about the surgery to help patients overcome their treatment worries, provide advice on how to deal with therapy with an emphasis on moral support for patients and families.
