When we first reached out for support, my brother Muthu Kumar, a 36-year-old single father of two young children, was battling blood cancer and undergoing treatment. We had already spent around ₹16 lakh through savings and loans, with further treatment still ahead of us. Today, with the support of the Milaap community, Muthu Kumar has made progress in his treatment and continues to fight with strength and hope.

Fighting With Hope
Muthu Kumar’s progress today, as his treatment continues
When we first reached out for support, my brother Muthu Kumar, a 36-year-old single father of two young children, was battling blood cancer and undergoing treatment. The uncertainty was overwhelming for our family, and the rising medical expenses made an already difficult journey even harder.
We had already spent around ₹16 lakh on his treatment, arranging the money through our savings and loans. With further treatment ahead, we were struggling to see how we would manage the expenses.
“Every contribution and every share brought us one step closer to getting Muthu the care he needed. For our family, this support meant more than financial help. It gave us the strength to keep going during one of the most difficult periods of our lives.”
— Muthu Kumar’s Sibling
Today, we are grateful to share that Muthu Kumar has made progress in his treatment and continues to fight his illness with strength and hope. The support we received through Milaap helped our family manage the overwhelming financial burden and continue his treatment when we needed it most.
“We are deeply grateful to every donor and well-wisher who stood by Muthu Kumar and our family. Your kindness gave us hope when we needed it most. Thank you for helping us through this journey.”
— Muthu Kumar’s Sibling
As Muthu continues his treatment and recovery, we remain hopeful that he will regain his health and be there for his two children for many years to come.
Blood cancer treatment can stretch on for months, with costs that quickly outpace a family’s savings and loans. We help patients and their families reach a wider circle of support so treatment doesn’t have to stop.
Blood cancer treatment often involves chemotherapy, regular hospitalisation, blood transfusions and long-term monitoring, sometimes over many months. Combined with medication and repeated hospital stays, these costs can add up to well beyond what most families have saved, as with Muthu Kumar’s ₹16 lakh in expenses so far.
A sibling or close family member can create and manage a campaign on the patient’s behalf, sharing the patient’s medical documents, a treatment cost estimate and identity proof. Our team helps verify these details so the fundraiser can go live and start reaching donors.
Many conditions, including blood cancer, require continued treatment and monitoring even after initial progress. An update like this reflects real progress in the patient’s fight, while being honest that the journey and its costs are not yet fully behind the family.
You typically need hospital records confirming the diagnosis and treatment plan, a cost estimate, and identity proof for the patient or the person raising funds on their behalf. Our team helps applicants gather and verify these documents before the fundraiser goes live.
