6. From Limitations To A Lifesaver for Animals

Milaap empowers not just individuals in need, but also those who dedicate their lives to helping others. The story of the Aastha Loving Kindness and Compassion (ALKC) Foundation, founded by Sweta Maurya, is a testament to this.

 

Despite battling Osteogenesis Imperfecta, a condition that limited her mobility, Sweta found her calling in animal welfare. Witnessing the plight of an abused dog online, she leveraged social media to connect with rescue groups and tirelessly advocated for animals in need.

 

Through sheer determination, Sweta established ALKC Foundation in 2016. However, limited resources hampered their ability to help more animals. This is where Milaap stepped in.

 

Thanks to the generosity of over 4,486 supporters on Milaap, ALKC Foundation raised a staggering INR 5,131,829 (over $66,000). This funding has been instrumental in rescuing and caring for over 400 animals and finding loving homes for countless rescued animals.

 

Sweta's vision is wider than just animals though. She dreams of extending her reach to help orphans, abandoned elderly, and the homeless. Additionally, she aspires to create online employment opportunities for others battling Osteogenesis Imperfecta.

Nestled in the Ambodi village of Saswad, Pune district, India, lies Maya Care Centre, a haven for abandoned and neglected elderly citizens. Founded by Dr. Sanjivkumar Kashinath Bhate and his wife Vaishnavi Bhate, Maya Care Centre has become a beacon of hope, transforming countless lives with compassion and care.

However, Maya Care Centre's journey is not without challenges. Located in a remote area, attracting paid staff is difficult. Limited funds make maintaining the facility and buying essential supplies a constant struggle. Despite these hurdles, Dr. Sanjiv and Vaishnavi remain undeterred. Their dream is to build a permanent home with ample space to accommodate more elderly individuals, offering them a safe and secure environment for their golden years. To get closer to his dream they launched a campaign on Milaap and told the heartfelt story of people residing in the centre. The story was heard and felt by thousands of people who decided to come forward and donate for the cause.

Through the crowdfunding campaign, Maya Care Centre successfully raised more than INR 10 lakhs. This incredible feat, achieved with the support of 7,974 generous donors, demonstrates the collective power of individuals to make a real difference
